With a working title of “Eaten Alive” this Animal Planet documentary promised to be intriguing. A seven-day engagement for Matt GORMLY, the Canadian production (to air as “Animal Attack”) visited Australia interviewing survivors of crocodile and shark attacks.
Interviews were held in Sydney over two days, and included renown shark attack survivor Rodney Fox (1963) and one other, along with a survivor of a crocodile attack that occurred some 20nM out to sea!
With the interviews in the can, Producer and DP travelled around Sydney and onto Cairns and Port Douglas, Queensland, gathering interview overlay and drama elements for sequences yet to be shot.
The stand-out facility of the trip was “Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure” near Cairns, Qld - an excellent filming environment, with a large lagoon full of awesome saltwater crocs. Accommodating staff, and a great collection of the most incredible and enormous creatures. www.crocodileadventures.com
The Australian leg was recorded on Sony F900R HDcam by DP Matthew GORMLY, with interview sound by Maurice CARVAJAL.
